Custom Coins – The sign of Pride
Commemorative coins have now become the part of almost every country military unit as for the means to boost up the morale and establish the feelings of brotherhood among the members of the organization. Unit members wear them as badges on their chest to show their allegiance to the military unit. These coins are also distributed by the senior officers to the members of the unit as rewards for performing well under their command. Though nobody is sure of the origin of these coins, they first came into existence sometime after the Second World War. Soon they caught the imagination of all military units apart from air force, customs, navy, coast guard and other such units.
To be different from civilians, the army members wear these medals and coins proudly. The Presidents also display these medals and coins behind their Oval Office Desk. You can easily notice the craze of these coins among people. This has become the delight of the collector to get these special coins and one can purchase them online or from an auction.
Uses of command coins
Firstly the purpose of these coins was to lift up the morale of the members of the unit and bring loyalty feelings among them but now they are represented as commemorative coins today. In the memory of brave assassinated soldiers the custom coins are placed at Ford Hood shooting by the President Barrack Obama in 2009. Sometime back in the past, the tradition of challenging started where any member could challenge the other member of the unit to produce their command coins. This made it ensured that every member has these custom challenge coins and the one who was unable to produce the coins, then had to buy the drinks for other members.
Commemorative coins
These coins have become the symbol of any special event or mark that the Government issues. It all began in the sixties and it has become commonplace by the governments to issue a commemorative coin in honor of any event or a person which it deems fit for the purpose. These coins are of a special denomination and though not in circulation hold special significance and people collect them for various reasons. As time passes, some of the coins gets rare and thus they become valuable.
